Kicks Shoe Event

The Kicks Shoe Event approached rapidly! We were determined to do something special for the start of the school year, but we sought guidance to discern what Jesus wanted us to do. The concept of supplying shoes for children took shape, but we wanted to do it in a genuine HoneyRock style. We firmly believe in adding that extra touch, being the SPRINKLES, and going the extra mile to show love and care to those in our community.

And that’s how the Kicks Shoe Event was born! We joined forces with local high schools to extend a special invitation to students for a unique shopping experience at Grapevine Mills Mall, where they could choose their very own pair of shoes. But our love didn’t stop there. We knew that their younger siblings could use a little extra hope this school year, so we welcomed them to join in too.

Our incredible team members generously volunteered their time to step in as shoppers. Families met us at the mall, where our shoppers guided them to various stores within the mall, allowing each family member to pick out the shoes of their choice. Some of the students were overwhelmed with emotion and astonishment at the freedom to choose exactly what they wanted. These kids typically received hand me downs, or thrifted shoes. Some even wearing the same pair regardless of growing out of them some time ago.

We witnessed tears of joy and heard countless heartwarming stories. It was a powerful way to instill hope and confidence in these students as they prepared to walk into school the following week.

Additionally, we had an incredible photographer step up to the plate as soon as she heard about the need! What made it even more fun was that she primarily specialized in nature photography, so this event was a departure from her comfort zone. However, she followed God’s call and graciously provided us with some of the most heartwarming photos.

This story exemplifies why HoneyRock exists in the first place – to create opportunities for individuals to have genuine encounters with Jesus. And that includes not only those who are directly impacted but also those whom He chooses to use as instruments to share His love and message.
